Today marks the 4th year anniversary of Keystone.

This year has been an exciting journey for the team. From rebranding to new integrations and collaborations, it would be an understatement to say that the journey was anything but successful.

In early 2021, we were busy with the rebrand from Cobo Vault to Keystone. From June 2021, we completed the relaunch as tweeted from then onwards. For anyone who has followed us on twitter since then, you would know about the limitations we faced when under an umbrella company prior to the rebrand. Thankfully, under the new banner “Keystone” and free from corporate constraints, we were free to pursue and develop our hardware wallet goals that the community was looking for. With hard work and dedication, much has been accomplished in the last year:

In June 2021, we wanted to provide further support for those who are using the BTC-only firmware with their Keystone hardware wallets by integrating Sparrow Wallet, Specter Wallet, and BlueWallet with the Keystone hardware device.

In late July, we successfully integrated Gnosis Safe, a multi-signature service that allows teams to manage their digital assets on Ethereum. This integration enables composable identity on Web3 so that an identity as an inventory of assets within multiple contexts can be applied.

In mid August, we partnered with SushiSwap so users of Keystone hardware devices can enjoy secure signing of DeFi transactions on one of the most popular dapps available (check here for the video demonstration).

In late August, we collaborated with ENS (Ethereum Name Service), making the Keystone hardware wallet the very first hardware wallet that can safely display ENS data on its screen by allowing users to set their reverse record for their ENS.

Just days after in late august, Yearn Finance has also finished their integration with Keystone, allowing users to securely sign DeFi transactions when using Yearn’s financial services.

In early September, Zapper was integrated, which allows users to manage their entire web3 portfolio from one convenient place.

In early October, Casa was integrated, making Casa’s key management protocol compatible with the Keystone hardware wallet for bitcoin multi-signature transactions.

In November, Korean and Spanish languages were added so users whose native language is either of the two can enjoy using a secure hardware wallet in their own native language. This was also the time when Nunchuk was integrated, a self-custody solution for bitcoin.

In mid December, SimpleBtcWallet was integrated, making it the 6th bitcoin wallet to be integrated in 2021 if you also include the multi-signature bitcoin wallets.

By late December, Keystone had successfully integrated with Metamask, an integration that was months in the making. By this point, it should be clear that it has been one heck of a year for our team but the party’s just getting started.

By this point, it’s January 2022 and the last 6 months have been hectic. But the team continued to aim higher by rolling out support for all 3 BTC address formats: Legacy, Native Segwit, and Nested Segwit. The team is busy working on the Smart-Contract Metadata Registry to tackle the blind signing issue that has been plaguing not only Ethereum but many other blockchains as well. New partnerships with Trader Joe (blog announcement here) are just the start to make signing safer with hardware wallets.

The future is vast and so is our plan for 2022:

  • The MetaMask Mobile integration is already in the works, further increasing QR signing adoption in the Web3 community.
  • More integrations with other extension wallets will be supported.
  • Support for other non-EVM compatible chains like Solana, Cosmos, and NEAR protocol will be explored.
  • Partnerships with dapp teams to tackle and address blind signing using their ABI.
  • New features for the NFT community are also being worked on.
  • German, Russian, and Japanese language support will be added to our hardware devices for a total of 7 languages!
  • The UX will be improved to a whole new level to improve UX security, a fundamental part of our hardware design principles

2022 is going to be an exciting year for Keystone users. Stay informed and follow us on Twitter for the latest updates!

About Keystone

Keystone is a 100% air-gapped QR code hardware wallet. The wallet is designed to maximize attack cost, minimize trust, prevent potential human error, avoid single-point-of-failures and boost interoperability. It was officially integrated with MetaMask in December 2021.
